Proses pembakaran tersebut menghasilkan 2 jenis abu, yaitu abu terbang (<em>fly ash<\/em>) dan abu dasar (<em>bottom ash<\/em>). <em>Fly ash<\/em> memiliki bentuk halus, bundar, dan bersifat pozolanik (bereaksi terhadap senyawa Ca(OH)<sub>2<\/sub> hasil dari reaksi hidrasi antara semen dan air).<\/p>\n<p>Dalam industri beton saat ini, fly ash sudah sering digunakan karena dinilai memiliki manfaat dan keuntungan untuk produksi beton dari abu terbang ini, antara lain:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Bentuk partikel yang bulat membuat <em>fly ash<\/em> memiliki kemampuan yang baik dalam <em>flowability<\/em> and <em>workability<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Ukuran partikel lebih halus daripada semen ini membuat beton menjadi <em>impermeable<\/em>, tahan abrasi, dan memperkecil susut pada beton.<\/li>\n<li>Dalam kadar tertentu akan meningkatkan kuat tekan beton.<\/li>\n<li>Pada persentase tertentu, <em>fly ash<\/em> dapat menurunkan panas hidrasi beton sehingga mengurangi potensi retak selama proses pengerasan\/<em><em>setting time.<\/em><\/em><\/li>\n<li>Meningkatkan daya tahan terhadap sulfat dan garam alkali yang dapat mengurangi kuat tekan beton,<\/li>\n<li>Mencegah <em>bleeding <\/em>dan segregasi pada beton,<\/li>\n<li>Memperpanjang waktu <em>a setting time<\/em> sehingga pekerjaan dapat dilakukan dengan lebih baik tanpa terburu-buru, dan<\/li>\n<li>Lebih ekonomis dan harga lebih terjangkau.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Sebelum diketahui memiliki manfaat besar dalam industri beton, <em>fly ash<\/em> abu terbang termasuk kategori limbah bahan beracun dan berbahaya (B3). Kemudian, berdasarkan Peraturan Pemerintah (PP) Nomor 22 Tahun 2021 mengenai penyelenggaraan perlindungan dan pengelolaan Lingkungan Hidup, pemerintah mengeluarkan limbah batu bara dari kategori limbah B3.<\/p>\n<p>Berdasarkan lampiran 14 PP Nomor 22 tahun 2021 tersebut pula, jenis limbah batu bara yang dihapus dari limbah B3 adalah <em>fly ash<\/em> and <em>bottom ash<\/em> dengan catatan limbah tersebut bersumber dari pembakaran batu bara di PLTU untuk keperluan bahan baku industri.<\/p>\n<p>Saat ini ini fly ash sudah banyak dimanfaatkan dalam industri readymix maupun precast di Indonesia, karena fly ash dapat digunakan sebagai bahan subtitusi semen dalam produksi beton pada industri tersebut.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sumber foto: pexels.com Fly ash atau abu terbang merupakan material sisa dari pembakaran batu bara di Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Uap (PLTU).
